The Blue Heart of the Green Umbria
Lake Trasimeno is located in Central Italy and surrounded by the great art cities this area between Florence and Rome is so famous for, places like Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto and Gubbio, all cities enormously rich in history and culture. Eight towns surround the Lake itself, some on panoramic hilltops – like Città della Pieve, Paciano, Panicale and Piegaro – and others right on the shore - Castiglione del Lago, Magione, Passignano sul Trasimeno and Tuoro sul Trasimeno.
The largest of the six Regional Parks of Umbria, is one of the most important wetlands areas in Europe for the presence of plant species, fauna and fish of great importance. The total silence and the nature that it encompasses allows life to go on here without having to turn to artificial methods of preservation. It is truly unique.
