Nestled on the slopes of Mt. Pausillo, not far from Città della Pieve on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, sits an ancient Church.
Around this church, starting in the 1400s, they built the priest’s house, then the little house for the friar and the one for the farmer, who tilled the land around it.
Olive groves and oak trees, common to the landscape, surround the entire complex. San Donato sits at an altitude of 400m and has been entirely renovated following the strictest of historical conservation regulations with regard to both the architecture and the original materials utilised.
San Donato is not just a place to relax and unwind but, thanks to its strategic location, also the ideal starting point to enjoy easy-to-reach cities steeped in history, art, culture and spirituality like Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Orvieto, Città della Pieve, Castiglione del Lago, Lago Trasimeno, Chiusi, Montepulciano, Pienza as well as Rome and Florence, each about 120 km away.
Not only, but less than a kilometre away you’ll find the bus stop, an ATM, post office, bank, restaurants and coffee shops, a baker, supermarket, and pharmacy. The train station is not far away and there is a hospital about 10k away.
