Located just a few minutes’ walk from the main piazza of the historic centre of Cortona, Dolce Maria boasts the kind of peace and quiet that is reminiscent of times long past. The historically important 15th century building has six exclusive guest rooms of varying sizes.
Each room is equipped with all the modern comforts (air conditioning, TV and a safe) and furnished with the family’s antiques to give the frescoed walls and 3mt high windows a further touch of elegance. A “suite” is available upon request.
The entrance to the B&B is at number 12. Once inside, an elegant corridor leads you to the upper storeys and to the small, elegant restaurant where you can enjoy fabulous local and Tuscan cuisine, along with some of the best wines from Italian vintners. In the medieval part of the building, on the top floor, is the “La Toretta” room. It is a delightful and spacious 45 m² room with a fireplace and private terrace from which to enjoy breathtaking views of the valley below.
Tuscan cooking courses can be organised upon request in either English or Italian.
Not far from the B&B you’ll find all of the most important landmarks of Cortona, its monuments, the Signorelli Theatre, the streets with their elegant boutiques and artisans and, 80m away, the free public parking area just outside the ancient city’s Etruscan walls.
Cortona is ideally located for visitors. In less than an hour’s drive, you can reach some of Italy’s most remarkable Tuscan and Umbrian art cities: Florence, Siena, Perugia, Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Lake Trasimeno, Arezzo, Assisi, Gubbio, Orvieto, Spoleto and so many more.
