👉 Starting on the 12th of August, Città della Pieve, the hometown of Il Perugino (Pietro Vannucci), will clad itself in the glorious atmosphere of the Renaissance with a full calendar of events (shows, plays, artisans, festivities and streets artists) organised by the Terzieri and the Palio.
👩🍳 The tavernas will be open and bustling with excitement, featuring menus based on ages-old tradition. Careful choosing of the raw materials will let you taste such fabulous characteristic dishes as Lumache al pizzico, Stinco del Arciere and Gnocchi del Priore. The novelty this year is a renaissance evening (20 August) entitled Food and Banquets in the time of Il Perugino.
👑 As decided by the Artistic Commission, the three allegorical floats this year will revolve around the theme of Ovid’s Metamorphoses.
🔝 The most important days are the Launch of the Challenge, on 15 August, and the competition itself on Sunday, August 25, when there will be a magnificent historical procession through the streets, before the archery contest at the sports arena. But every day is a great day to come and enjoy!
💯The Palio year concludes in October, when the Masgalano award is handed out to the best player and the Valerio Bittarello award for the best float.
